SAATEN-UNION UK have access to maize breeding from across Europe.
Why our maize?
The Saaten Union maize portfolio is a European programme managed by our colleagues in Germany. The programme is in two parts with the screening/breeding company AIC testing and trialing new lines from many breeders cross Europe. In the UK we have 3 AIC trials each year with new material which is suitable for UK growing conditions and season length.
If material is found to be successful then this is marketed and managed by SU GmbH in conjunction with SU UK and Elsoms Seeds. SU GmbH also manage their own maize seed production across Europe.
This programme has delivered successful varieties and continues to discover new lines suitable for the UK market.
Currently we have SU Addition in its second commercial year. After a successful introduction this variety has grown in popularity and is set to increase further. We are also excited to introduce Fulcana into our portfolio in 2027.
