Why our triticale?

Triticale is a cereal that is made up genetically by crossing Rye and Wheat varieties.

This gives the yield and quality of wheat in a plant that has the robust growing characteristics of Rye.
Triticale can be used in many situations, the biggest being as a feed grain. Other areas the crop is widely used is as a whole crop for Bio-gas production or livestock and in mixtures for field margins for birds and beneficial insects.

SAATEN-UNION UK have access to two breeding programs which produce both winter and spring varieties of Triticale.
